- Time 時間：11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (log in at 10:30 a.m. ; release announcement at 10:45 a.m.;
There is a recess during the contest.)

比賽設有小息時間)﹚ - Format 形式：Online Contest (Conducted by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology)
網上比賽 (由香港科技大學舉行)
Trial session 測試會﹕ Trial session is for participants to test the equipment and understand the
format of the online contest. Participants only need to attend one of the trial
sessions as Zoom* meeting in the following time slots.
測試會目的是讓參賽者測試設備及理解網上比賽的形式。參賽者只需出席其中
一次測試會。以下是 Zoom 會議的時段。 i) 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. 11 October 2021 (Monday); 2021 年 10 月 11 日(星期一)下午 5 時 30 分至 6 時 30 分； ii) 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. 12 October 2021 (Tuesday); 2021 年 10 月 12 日(星期二)下午 5 時 30 分至 6 時 30 分； iii) 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. 14 October 2021 (Thursday). 2021 年 10 月 14 日(星期四)下午 5 時 30 分至 6 時 30 分。 (Remark: The contest and trial session will be video recorded.)

4.1. Each secondary school may nominate up to TEN students of Secondary Six or below for the
captioned contest. Please rank all nominated students in priority on the Online Nomination
Form and submit all the nominations at the same time. If the number of nominees exceeds
the capacity, places will be granted according to the priority of nominees on the Nomination
Form. Student members of The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) are not
counted in the quota and there is no limit on the number of participants for student members of the
HKAGE. Schools are obligated to assist their nominated students to have appropriate equipment
(e.g. access to computer room) to join the trial session and contest. 每所中學可提名最多十名中六
或以下學生參加比賽。請將所有提名學生以優先次序排列，並一次過提交網上提名表格。若獲提名
的學生人數超過預定的限額，學生的參賽資格將按提名表格上的優先次序決定。香港資優教育學苑
學員不計算在名額之內，其參加人數亦不設上限。學校有義務協助提名學生有適合設備(例﹕使用電
腦室)參與測試會及比賽。

4.2. Students who were born on or after 1 July 2002 and will still be studying in secondary schools in Hong
Kong in the 2021/22 school year are eligible for nomination. 所有獲提名學生均須於 2002 年 7 月 1 日或
之後出生，並於 2021/22 學年仍就讀於香港的中學。
4.3. School participating in the event is also requested to nominate a teacher-in-charge to coordinate
the event. 參賽學校須委派一名負責教師協助統籌學生參賽。
4.4. Schools may nominate students through the HKAGE website
(https://www.hkage.org.hk/en/competitions) on or before 13 September 2021 (Monday by 12:00
n.n.). 學校可於 2021 年 9 月 13 日（星期一正午 12 時或之前）經香港資優教育學苑網頁
（https://www.hkage.org.hk/b5/competitions）提名學生參賽。
4.5. Providing that the school quota has not been filled up, self-nominations from students are open
for the contest. Applications are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, and the application
qualification of self-nomination is the same as school-nomination (please refer to 4.2). 若學
校提名名額未滿，比賽亦接受學生自我提名。自我提名申請將以先到先得方式處理，自我提名的資
格要求與學校提名相同。（請參考 4.2）
4.6. Self-nominated students may apply through the HKAGE website
(https://www.hkage.org.hk/en/competitions) from 14 September 2021 (Tuesday from 12:00 n.n.) to
20 September 2021 (Monday by 12:00 n.n.). 自我提名的學生可於 2021 年 9 月 14 日﹙星期二正午 12
時起﹚至 2021 年 9 月 20 日﹙星期一正午 12 時或之前﹚經香 港 資 優 教 育 學 苑 網 頁
﹙https://www.hkage.org.hk/b5/competitions﹚報名參賽。
4.7. Results of applications, Participant ID Number of contestants, trial session and contest login
method and other details will be released after 5:00 p.m. on 27 September 2021 (Monday) on
the website of the HKAGE (https://www.hkage.org.hk/en/competitions). School principals,
teachers and students concerned should take the initiative to check the details. No further
notification will be given. 報名結果、學生參賽編號、測試會與比賽登入方法及其他有關詳情，
將 於 2021 年 9 月 27 日（星期 一 ）下午 5 時 後 在 香 港 資 優 教 育 學 苑 網 頁
﹙https://www.hkage.org.hk/b5/competitions﹚公佈，校長、教師及相關學生屆時須自行上網查閱詳情，
恕不另函通知。
4.8. Upon submitting the nomination, the participants are deemed to have read, accepted and agreed
to abide by the relevant regulations of the competition. 提名一經提交，即表示參賽者已閱讀、接受
並同意遵守比賽的有關規則。 - Mode of Competition 比賽形式：
5.1. The contest is comprised of a two-hour online test. 比賽以網上考試形式進行，限時兩小時。
5.2. There are 50 multiple choice questions in the test, which is available in Chinese and English.
Contestants should answer all the questions. 試卷共有 50 條多項選擇題，題目有中、英文版本。參賽學
生必須解答全卷所有題目。
5.3. Contestants are not allowed to leave early. 參賽學生均不得早退。

5.4. Those who are late for 30 minutes after the start time of the competition will be disqualified and will
not be allowed to join the contest. 以比賽開始時間計算，遲到超過三十分鐘者將被取消資格，並
不准參賽。
5.5. The questions set will mainly be based on the Biology Curriculum and Assessment Guide
(Secondary 4 – 6) (2007) (with updates in November 2015) (Curriculum Documents Website). It will
also cover other biology topics (e.g. Bioinformatics, Plant Biology, Animal Physiology, Histology and
Developmental Biology) (suggested reference material: Campbell Biology, 11th edition, Authors:
Urry, Cain, Wasserman, Minorsky, Reece, ISBN13: 9780134093413). Reference is made to the
IBO questions regarding the Question styles and the skills required. (IBO website: http://www.iboinfo.org). 題目主要根據《生物課程及評估指引（中四至中六）》(2007)（2015 年 11 月更新）(課程
文件網頁)擬定，亦會涉及其他生物學課題（例如：生物信息學、植物學和動物生理學、組織學及發

6.1. Only calculators approved by The Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority with the
“HKEAA APPROVED” label can be used for the event

and compasses can also be used. No stationeries will be provided. 比賽時，學生可使用香港考試

6.2. No equations/formulae will be provided. 試卷並不提供任何方程式或公式。
6.3. Contestants must log in punctually and have their Hong Kong Identity Cards and Student Identity
Cards with them. Those who failed to comply may risk disqualification. 參賽學生須準時於比賽當日
登入報到，並準備香港身份證和學生證，否則其參賽資格可能會被取消。
6.4. Any changes in the regulations will be announced on the day of the event. 賽例如有更改，將於比賽當天
公佈。
6.5. Queries should reach the officer-in-charge immediately after the event. The decision of the International
Biology Olympiad – Hong Kong Contest Steering Committee will be final. 參賽學生如有疑問，須於比賽
完畢後立即向試場主任提出。國際生物奧林匹克－香港區比賽督導委員會擁有最終裁決權。
6.6. Each student is required to prepare the following equipment:
i) One computer with internet connection;
ii) One smart phone with camera;
iii) Stable internet connection.
Atrial session for testing the equipment will be arranged before the contest.
每位參賽者須預備以下設備﹕
i) 一部可連接網絡的電腦；
ii) 一部設有鏡頭的智能電話；

比賽前將會有一次測試會來測試各種設備。 - There will be Individual Gold, Silver, Bronze Awards and Honourable Mentions. The Outstanding Student
Performance Awards include a Champion, a 1st Runner-up, and a 2nd Runner-up. For team awards, the
three highest scores of each participating school will be counted for the “Best Schools Awards” and
“Honourable Mention for Schools”. 本賽事設有個人金、銀、銅獎及優異獎。「學生傑出表現獎」設冠軍、
亞軍及季軍。另外，每間學校參賽隊伍最高的三個分數將用作計算團體成績，以爭奪「學校最佳表現獎」
及「學校優異表現獎」。 - Only the awardee list will be announced in the competition result. The decision of IBO-HKC Steering
Committee is final for all competition-related matters and all stakeholders shall not raise any objection on
the decision. 比賽結果只會公佈各獎項的得獎者名單。國際生物奧林匹克-香港區比賽督導委員會對比賽的
一切事宜擁有最終裁決權，有關人等一律不得異議。 - IBO Training Programme 國際生物奧林匹克培訓課程：
9.1 The Gold, Silver and Bronze awardees will be eligible to apply in the “IBO Training Programme –
Phase I”. After obtaining a completion grade in the phase I training, students of appropriate age
will be invited to apply for HKAGE student membership through the “Nurturing the Gifted Scheme”.

9.2 Students who have already been Hong Kong representatives TWICE to participate in the IBO are
eligible to join the Hong Kong Contest and Training Programme. However, they will NOT be
selected as Hong Kong representatives for the third time. 如學生已經兩次代表香港參加國際生物
奧林匹克，他們仍合乎資格參加香港區比賽及培訓課程。不過，他們不會第三次獲選為香港代表。 - Results and arrangements of the Prize-giving Ceremony and follow-on IBO training programmes will be
announced in mid Nov 2020 through the HKAGE website (https://www.hkage.org.hk/en/competitions).
