Terms and Conditions for the Biolympiads.com Essay Writing Competition
By entering the Biolympiads.com Essay Writing Competition (hereafter referred to as the “Competition”), you agree to the following terms and conditions (T&Cs):
1. Eligibility
1.1 The Competition is open to all school students, regardless of location or nationality.
1.2 Entries must be submitted in English and meet the word count requirement of no more than 2000 words.
1.3 Employees of Biolympiads.com, their immediate families, and any individuals involved in the administration of the Competition are not eligible to participate.
2. Competition Dates
2.1 The opening date for entries is October 4, 2024.
2.2 The closing date for entries is October 31, 2024. All submissions must be received by 11:59 PM EST on the closing date.
2.3 Biolympiads.com reserves the right to extend the closing date without prior notice.
3. Entry Requirements
3.1 Essays must address the given topic: How to Succeed in School – Tips, Strategies, and Personal Success Stories.
3.2 All essays must be original work created solely by the entrant. Plagiarism, copying, or any form of academic dishonesty will result in immediate disqualification.
3.3 Entries must be submitted in digital format on https://forms.fillout.com/t/8CLxWw4pWaus.
3.4 One entry per person. Multiple entries by the same participant will be disqualified.
4. Submission Guidelines
4.1 Essays must be pasted into the form or submitted as a Word document or PDF file.
4.2 The document must include the participant’s full name, contact email, and educational institution.
4.3 Biolympiads.com reserves the right to refuse any entry that does not comply with the submission guidelines or topic, or which contains offensive, inappropriate, or unlawful material.
5. Prizes
5.1 The prizes are as follows:
1st Place: $1000
2nd Place: $500
3rd Place: $250
5.2 All prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. No cash alternative is available.
5.3 Winners will be notified via email within 4 weeks after the closing date.
5.4 Biolympiads.com reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value in the event of unavailability of the original prizes.
6. Selection of Winners
6.1 Essays will be judged based on creativity, originality, clarity, relevance to the topic, and overall quality.
6.2 The judging panel will consist of qualified individuals chosen by Biolympiads.com.
6.3 The decision of the judging panel is final, and no correspondence or appeals will be entered into regarding the results.
6.4 Winners will be announced in November via the Biolympiads.com website and social media platforms.
7. Copyright and Intellectual Property
7.1 By submitting an essay to the Competition, participants agree to assign all copyright and intellectual property rights in their submitted work to Biolympiads.com.
7.2 Biolympiads.com will have exclusive rights to use, reproduce, publish, distribute, even commercially, and display the essays in any format (digital or print), worldwide and in perpetuity.
7.3 Participants waive any moral rights they may have in relation to the use of their essays by Biolympiads.com.
7.4 Participants agree that their essay may be edited or adapted for clarity or length if used by Biolympiads.com.
8. Use of Personal Data
8.1 By entering the Competition, participants agree that Biolympiads.com may use their personal information (name, school, location) for promotional and marketing purposes related to the Competition.
8.2 Biolympiads.com will not share personal data with third parties without the entrant’s prior consent unless required to do so by law.
9. Liability
9.1 Biolympiads.com accepts no responsibility for late, lost, misdirected, or incomplete submissions due to technical, hardware, or software failures.
9.2 Participants are responsible for ensuring that their submission is received in full and in good condition.
10. Disqualification
10.1 Biolympiads.com reserves the right to disqualify any participant found to have violated the rules or submitted an essay that does not meet the competition requirements.
10.2 Any form of cheating or unfair practices will result in immediate disqualification.
11. Modifications and Termination
11.1 Biolympiads.com reserves the right to amend or modify these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
11.2 In the event of unforeseen circumstances, Biolympiads.com reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or suspend the Competition at any time.
12. Governing Law
12.1 These T&Cs will be governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
12.2 Any disputes arising in connection with the Competition will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the United Kingdom.
